Youth Baseball at Norwood, MO

A sure sign of spring is youth baseball at Norwood.  Here the 10-12 year old boys are enjoying baseball practice after school in preparation for the summer season.  They are practicing not only for this summer but with the knowledge that soon they will be in High School and will be competing against other schools.  They are working to develop their baseball skills.

Rusty Bradshaw at Work

I happened to be sitting waiting for a slow moving train when I noticed Rusty Bradshaw, Head of Norwood Maintenance Department behind me.   I jumped out and caught him by surprise.

A short while later I caught him mowing one of Norwoods many City Parks.  This park is just across from the Post Office and I can remember many years ago it had several trees and benches.  The old men would gather there on Saturdays and whittle and visit.  The trees and benches have been gone a long time now.  If anyone reading this has got one of the old pictures of the men sitting under the shade whittling please share and I will include it here.

U. S. Flag Retirement Ceremony held at Norwood School

The students are waiting quietly for the "Flag Retirement Ceremony" to begin.  In a few moments they will be asked to stand for the ceremony.  The students were very well behaved and showed the proper amount of respect and reverence for the ceremony.

These students, (left to right) Chandler Connell, Freshman; Ashley Forrest, 4th grade, Cheyenne McGraw, 5th grade and Kyle Mason; 7the grade, folded the flags to be retired.  They learned quickly and did a fine job.  For a complete story with more photos go to "Flag Retirement Ceremony"
