Abortion - My Random thoughts
I am so glad that the subject (with action to be taken) never came up for my family while we were raising our children. I feel blessed. My children blessed Glinda and I with not giving us these kind of heart-wrenching problems to deal with.
I am against abortion and feel it is wrong. I do not believe that I am in a position to judge others though as I was never put in a position to make a stand one way or the other. I do know that making it illegal again will not make the problem go away. Rich kids will get sent to Europe, middle class kids will travel to Mexico and the poor will find their way to some sleazy, scumbag in an alley to perform the abortion under less than good conditions.
I do believe that we need to work harder at sex education. Grinning coaches just do not cut it and what 15 year old boy or girl is going to go to the school nurse and ask for a condom?
I don't feel that the 'Just say no" (abstinence) movement has a chance because they do not even try to explain to the kids how their hormones are raging inside them. God made our bodies to start wanting to procreate at a very young age, hence it is only natural that the kids hormones tell them that they want to have sex.
Parents, start talking to your children at a very young age, explaining how it all works. Do not expect them to "Say No" just because you say so. Do not think that just because they are 'good kids' that they will refrain from sex. The hormones God gave us are very strong and you will have to explain it to them. Do not make the mistake of not preparing your children for this natural desire they will experience.
EDUCATION is their only defense - whether abortion is against the law or not - they do not care. Prepare them - THAT IS YOUR JOB as a parent whether your child be a boy or girl.
Thoughtfully

Well, I think most people know my view of abortion as I lost a child while doing everything in my power to protect him. I am however glad to see a controversial post for someone other than myself. I will say I agree that education is the key. Along with parents that are open minded enough to realize what their own kids are doing. You can't expect your kids to come talk to you about these subjects if your not open for discussion.

Joe,
That is probably the most sane, rational and thoughtful post on abortion I have ever read. I think lots of readers on both sides of the argument need to read this and realize that no matter their feelings this is truth.
