I regress
Last Sunday evening after the chores were done it seemed nice outside and we weren't
ready to go back in the house yet. Our Granddaughter Emma was still with us so we
decided to see about putting the electric fence back up. Well, just as soon as we started
the cows spotted us and came to the gate bawling and bawling. I figure they knew what we
were about since every year they see us working on the electric fence just before we turn
them out to 'new grass'. There they were standing at the gate wanting in and bawling. I had
to walk across the field to shut one gate to another field that we didn't want them to get in
and they followed me down on the other side of the fence, just bawling and bawling like they
hadn't been fed in a week. After I got the one gate shut I walked back across the field to the
gate they were wanting through and opened it for them (I wasn't going to let them in until
Monday morning), they came through in a hurried rush and then stopped thirty yards inside
the gate and starting grazing. Here is a photo of some 'happy grazing cows'
Too bad the shadows tend to mar the photo.
