City Girl Visits Kelleys Brown Swiss Dairy
September 2nd I had visitors to the dairy barn during the evening milking. My good friend Charlie, who lives near Kansas City, brought his fourteen year old daughter, Carrie, to see cows milked for the first time. I was able to coax her into trying to get milk from a cow manually and she was successful the first time. Most that try have to work at it a little before they achieve success. Since this was her first time in a dairy barn she didn't know quite what to expect and as she was standing there one of the cows reached through the bars and licked the back of her shirt leaving slobbers and feed behind. Charlie quickly cleaned her up while she moaned "This is my favorite blouse" I replied "You shouldn't wear your favorite to the barn". All in all we had a pleasant visit but she doesn't think she wants to milk for a living.
