Thanksgiving at Kelley's Brown Swiss Dairy

The day began as any other.  I arose at 4:00 a.m. and turned the coffee on.  After I having a cup of coffee and reading a bit I headed out the door at 4:30 after waking Glinda up so she could prepare and get the turkey going.  She got to the barn right before 6:00 a.m. and we were able to finish the chores in a hurry and able to be back at the house by 6:30 a.m.
Glinda then had a busy hectic stressful morning getting the Thanksgiving Dinner ready.  Our Granddaughters, "Flossie" & "Flo" were the first to arrive,  Daughter Mitzi arrived in a little bit followed by Son-in-Law Brandan and oldest Grandson, "Skeezix".
"MawMaw" and "Gramps" were the next to arrive and they were followed by youngest Son Jacob and his wife, Amanda and their son Connor,  Quickly on their heels were our Granddaughter Mandy and her boyfriend Jason.  Glad they all got there I was really getting hungry.  Glinda put out a meal of turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn from the garden, green beans from the garden, sweet potatoes from the garden, pickled beets from the garden, cucumber pickles from the garden,  and fresh baked bread rolls.  Mitzi provided 'Cranberry Ice', Amanda brought a 'Chocolate Meringue Pie' she had made at Glinda's request (Glinda's favorite pie).  Glinda also had a apple pie and a pumpkin pie she had made in addition to a delicious "Turtle Cheese Cake" she had purchased from Connor for a school fundraiser.  We were done with our feast by 11:30 a.m. and I was hurting.
Following lunch we played darts and had a real good time just being together.  Chore time came again and everyone was gone by then.  Glinda and I took care of the evening milking and other chores and hurried back to the house as we were expecting more company for the evening.
Glinda's sister, Mary and her husband Clarence were the first to arrive around 6:00 p.m. followed by Glinda's sister Lori and her husband Merle.  Glinda's brother Donnie and his wife Sandy accompanied by their great-granddaughter Mia arrived next.  Glinda's brother Lonnie and his wife Joni and their granddaughter Chloe trailed quickly after.  Lonnie brought in the antlers from his two recent deer harvest, a 10 point white-tail buck taken on his farm south of Macomb and a 4 x 5 point muley buck taken on a recent trip to Colorado.
Mitzi, Brandan and their brood returned around 8:00 p.m. and came and joined us.  We had a good evening of visiting with everyone.  We were finally able to retire for the evening around 11:45 p.m. after a long, stressful and satisfying day.

Dinner was wonderful. It's so nice when we're all together. I wish we'd have been able to come back Thursday evening but Jacob had to work. I guess crime doesn't stop for the holidays. :(
