Kelleys Dairy Travels to Dawson

We traveled to Dawson, Mo yesterday evening after the chores. We had been invited out to have dinner and play some pitch. We cannot hardly turn down an invitation for dinner and pitch so we milked just a little early so we could clean up and arrive at 6:30 p.m. prompt. We were served a great meal of roast chicken, au gratin potatoes, green beans, cole slaw and some of the hugest dinner rolls I have ever seen. About the time I was full I found out that there was also pumpkin pie and chocolate pie which I had to turn down for the time being.
Following dinner we started playing pitch. Concrete Hillbilly and I were "us" and Glinda, Mary and Clarence took turns being "them". The evening session of pitch came out even with 10 games being played and each side winning 5. As you can see from the score sheets it was back and forth . "Us" started two games in the hole and finished those two games in the hole.
We had a ball and we laughed and laughed and laughed. It seems everyone was in an exceptional good mood and we found lots to laugh about.
I did find room to put 1/4 of that pumpkin pie down on top of a lot of beer right before we left at midnight. It was a long drive home but I was back up at 4:30 a.m. to start the morning milking, Glinda arrived at the barn at 6:30 a.m. and we were finished up and back home by 7:00 a.m. Needless to say we are not getting a lot done today as we are having to catch up on our rest. Tomorrow is another day.
