Tomato Hornworm

This is a photo of a Tomato Hornworm. This one was about four inches long. They are very destructive and you will usually find them on the top of the plant eating leaves but this one was about halfway down. The Tomato Hornworm is the caterpillar of the Luna Moth.

He is very hard to see but he is right in the middle of the photo. Tomato Hornworms are easy to control. If you see him just pick him off and stomp him into mush OR you can if you have a lot of plants use "Sevin" dust for control but I use a product bu "America Organic" called "Thuricide" concentrate. I get it at my local MFA farm supply store. The active ingredient is " bacillus thuringlensis " This is an organic and safe product that I can easily recommend.
Check your plants every morning and every night for damage and if you see stalks with the leaves eat away you know you have at least one.
